Intro
The project, in collaboration with the School of Hospitality at MSU Denver, involves creating a logo design and label for the late veteran Chris Thibodeau, the creator of the JP-8. The logo design focuses on the conceptual elements of Mr. Thibodeau’s military background in the Air Force, the stout drink, and connections to Colorado. Typographic elements include easy legibility, high contrast, and a striking color palette that relates to the stout drink’s coloration & flavor. In contrast, visual elements pay homage to Mr. Thibodeau’s background and connection to Colorado.

Project Process
Since there were no examples of a JP-8 label to go off of, the project started from scratch; creating iterations of the brandmark and label design to not only combine elements of what made the stout beverage, but honoring Mr. Thibodeau's legacy. I decided to create a logomark that was both typographic and pictorial, blending the two together to give the illusion of a plane taking off into the air. I decided that the color palette would focus on vibrant earth tones, connecting to the ingredients of the JP-8 beverage.
